Allelementary and secondaryschools in the Waynesville R-VI School District have been ranked in the top one-third in the state by U.S. News and World Report for 2024.
This includes the elementary schools: East, Freedom, Partridge,Thayerand Wood; the middle schools: Waynesville Sixth Grade Center and Waynesville Middle School,and Waynesville High School.
Pre-schools and career tech centers in Missouri are not ranked by U.S. News and World Report.
Theelementary and secondary schoolshave earned the right to display the U.S. News and World Report badge.
“We are delighted and believe that this may be the first time that all of our schools have ranked in the top one-third in the state by U.S. News and World Report,” said Superintendent Hilary Bales. “We were notified in the fall that our high school made the rankings for 2024, and then recently received word that our elementary and middle schools earned the badges as well.”
Elementary and middle school rankings are based almost exclusively on state assessments, and student-teacher ratios are applied to break ties in the overall score. In addition to state test scores, high schools are ranked on students who took AP exams, how many passed, and graduation rate.
“What’s important about these rankings is that they represent that our students are learning,” Bales said. “The fact that we have great students, staff and teachers is a reflection of the great support that we receive from our community.”
Principals will be recognized with U.S. News and World Report plaques during the Waynesville R-VI Board of Education meeting in February. In addition to the plaques, banners will hang at the schools.
