Waynesville Steel Bands premiere at festival

During the Festival of Nations, Waynesville Steel Bands had their premiere performance. After only about two weeks of having the new instruments, purchased through the AYPYN (Army Youth Programs In Your Neighborhood) grant, the Wind Ensemble Steel Band and the After School Steel Band each performed one tune: “Clearing” by CJ Menge and “Kiwi” by CJ Menge. The Wind Ensemble Steel Band is composed of the percussion section from the top auditioned concert band at Waynesville High School, while the After School Steel Band is open to all high school instrumentalists, as well as any middle schooler in the Advanced Percussion Ensemble.
