The American Red Cross of Central and Northern Missouri, along with the Waynesville and St. Roberts Fire Departments are offering free smoke alarm installations for Waynesville residents in need during a Sound the Alarm home fire safety event 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 21.

This effort is part of a national Sound the Alarm campaign to install 50,000 free smoke alarms annually in neighborhoods and communities across the U.S. Local Sound the Alarm events like this one are a critical part of the national Red Cross Home Fire Campaign, which has helped save countless of lives since launching in October 2014. Locally during this time, the American Red Cross of Central and Northern Missouri and local partners have installed 3,689 free smoke alarms and made 1,802 households safer time in our local communities.
