Hundreds gathered from near and far to see the bright lights of original Route 66 signs as the switch was flipped around 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the Neon Park lighting ceremony in the George M. Reed Roadside Park on Old Route 66 in St. Robert.

The event began around 5 p.m. with free hot dogs and water, a classic car show and fun for the whole family with music from the 50s era blasting on the speakers as visitors viewed the signs.
