As we move into the summer season, I want to take a moment to share several exciting updates and important news from across our great city. From parks and public safety to youth sports and community events, there is a lot happening that reflects our shared commitment to progress, pride, and service. Here's what's going on around St. Robert:
Parks and recreation update: Tiger Typhoon set to open May 31
Our parks and recreation team has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure a smooth and exciting start to the Tiger Typhoon Aquatic Center season.
While the original anticipated opening date was May 24, we made the decision to officially open on May 31. This change aligns with openings in surrounding communities and allows for more favorable weather conditions and warmer water temperatures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
We’re happy to report that all slides and spray features are fully operational!
In April, Vandevanter Engineering serviced our pumps to ensure peak performance. Since the pumps aren’t run during the winter, impellers can seize up, but everything has now been inspected and is working properly. Additionally, Safe Slide completed needed restorations to our outdoor slides. Notably, a large crack in the yellow enclosed slide was re-fiberglassed, and several seams and chips on the other riding surfaces were also repaired.
Beyond the waterpark, we’ve also made upgrades to our city parks. The swing set seats at the Main Playground were showing signs of wear and cracking. Last week, we replaced the seats and chains, and we’re excited to share that a new ADA swing seat was installed at Plattner Park just yesterday morning.
Fire department update: Advancing certification and readiness
From May 19 through May 23, five members of our St. Robert Fire Department participated in driver core training, a program facilitated by the Missouri Division of Fire Safety and hosted by the City of Rolla. Upon successful completion, these firefighters will earn their IFSAC Driver core certification through the State of Missouri, a significant credential that qualifies them to safely and effectively operate fire apparatus.
Those attending the training included Lieutenants Aaron Greathouse and Jason Church, along with firefighters Tori Sasfy, Justin Anderson and Tyler Hobbs. Their dedication to advancing their skills strengthens our department’s capabilities and reinforces our commitment to public safety. Please join me in congratulating them on their hard work and professional growth.

Youth sports update: Baseball, football and soccer seasons underway
Our Youth Sports Department is gearing up for an exciting summer season! Coach pitch and baseball games kicked off Thursday, May 22, in Lebanon. Coach pitch games will be played at Nelson Park, while baseball games will take place at Atchley Park. Games will be held every Thursday evening through July 10, with a break for the holiday on July 3.
T-ball practices begin May 28, and the first games are scheduled for Saturday, June 14.
Flag football registration closed May 22. If we do not have enough participants to form multiple teams in each age group, we will instead offer a skills camp, culminating in a combine event.
Looking ahead, fall soccer registration opens on June 6 and runs through July 14, with practices beginning in August.
It’s incredible to see the energy and progress taking place across our departments, organizations, and businesses. Whether it's preparing our parks, honoring our veterans, supporting youth athletics, or preserving our community’s history, we are working every day to make St. Robert a vibrant and welcoming place to live, work and play.
Thank you for staying engaged, supporting local initiatives, and helping us build a stronger St. Robert together.
