Junior Brooklynn Lercher of the Waynesville High School girls’ cross country team finished 50th in the Missouri Class 5 State Meet Friday, Nov. 7 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.
Lercher ran the 5,000-meter course in a time of 19:52.63.
It was the third consecutive season that Lercher had qualified for the state cross country championships.
Joplin’s Ava Doll was the girls’ Class 5 medalist with a time of 18:06.4.
Also Friday:
In the Class 4 State Meet the West Plains Zizzers won the boys’ team title with 81 points while Festus was runner-up with 86. It was the second straight state crown, and 15th overall, for the West Plains boys. Festus’ Carson Driemeier was the boys’ medalist at 14:49.18. Festus won the girls’ Class 4 state title with 84 points while West Plains was second with 104. Parkway Central’s Gabrielle Moresi was the girls’ medalist at 18:26.77.
In the Class 3 State Meet Centralia was the boys’ team champion with 94 points, clipping Westminster Christian by a single point. Hollister’s Sinry Mendoza was the Class 3 boys’ state champion at 15:25.07. In the Class 3 girls’ division Cape Notre Dame was the team champion with 93 points while St. Charles West’s Brianna Krueger was the individual titlist at 18:15.10.
On Saturday, Nov. 8:
In the Class 2 boys’ state race Woodland was the team champion with 102 points while Wyatt Klaiber of El Dorado Springs was the state medalist at 14:50.95. In the Class 2 girls’ race Lexington was the easy team champion with 25 points. Lexington’s Addison Smith was state medalist at 18:33.00.
In the Class 1 boys’ state race School of the Ozarks was the team champion with 95 points. Kellen Robertson of School of the Ozarks was the Class 1 medalist at 16:15.98. School of the Ozarks also won the Class 1 girls’ team title with 60 points. Jayden Chambers of Norwood was the girls' medalist at 19:09.35.
