FOOTBALL: Injury-riddled Tigers fall to Ozark

Waynesville fell to 0-5 while Ozark improved to 2-3.

It was Ozark’s first shutout win since 2022.

The Waynesville lineup has been extremely depleted by injuries over the last three weeks, particularly on offense. Senior quarterback Aden Maust, junior running back Kaden Wilson and a number of lineman on both sides of the ball have been among the starters lost to injury.

As a result, last week Waynesville produced just a handful of first downs. In the last two games Waynesville’s stripped-down offense has been outscored a combined 143-21.

Ozark had 550 yards of total offense, including 156 rushing yards by Jett Easley and 104 rushing yards by Anthony Cordell. Quarterback Peyton Russell passed for 118 yards.

Waynesville returns home Friday, Oct. 3 to host Springfield Glendale (7 p.m. kickoff).
