Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce hosted the cutting of a ribbon Oct. 15 for Pulaski County Health Center, a chamber member. Representing the Pulaski County Health Center and holding the scissors is Deborah Decker, executive director. Board members Larry Helms, JoEllen Ferguson, Israel Doba, and Jim Patton were present as well as staff members Karen Wall, Denise York, Delaney Sawyers, Michelle Gallagher, Jessica McBride, Connie Patton, Ashly Peschel, Zach Marlow, Wanda Laramore, Leann Huey, Angie Smith, Annita Nickels, Melissa Sharp, Sherry Boatwright, Crystal Forthman, and Hector Silva. Volunteers Ashley Baker, Larry Sharp, Russ Dixon, and Joann Patton were also present and representing the Pulaski County Health Center. Representing the chamber are chamber director Cecilia Murray, chamber ambassadors Cheryl Bohannon, Jason Jorgenson-Horn, Letitia Slider, Luge Hardman, and chamber board member Marianne Ward. Pulaski County Health Center has been in Pulaski County since 1951 with headquarters previously in Crocker and a satellite office in Waynesville. In 2023, they combined the locations and moved everyone to a new permanent location in Waynesville. Renovation of the new clinic was completed in August 2024 and Phase 2 which includes a new conference and training center will be completed in late 2024. When most people think about the health department, they think vaccines, WIC and possibly STD testing and treatment, but they are much more. They offer affordable blood draws and other health screenings, free women's health services, diabetic foot care, health education and fitness programs, water testing plus so many other things.
