From the awe of magic and the joy of the holiday season to the vibrant beats of world-renowned performances, this season promises to captivate and inspire, the release stated.
The lineup for the 2024-25 Campus Performing Arts Season includes:
• Anna DeGuzman – August 30: Hailed by GQ as “a master magician of the digital age” and The New York Times as “one of the few” women shaping the future of magic, Anna DeGuzman is leading a new generation of performers. At just 25, she is one of the world's premier female masters of cardistry — and a viral star whose talent and charm have brought her to the global stage. She was recently named Runner Up on America’s Got Talent Season 18 (2023), the first-ever female magician to make the finale.
• Second City: Mo Funny, Less Problems – Sept. 21: The Second City Touring Company’s "Mo’ Funny, Less Problems" promises an uproarious celebration of comedy genius through two acts of scripted scenes, musical comedy and their legendary improvisation. The iconic Chicago theater makes America laugh at pop culture, headlines, scandals and trends.
• PUSH Physical Theatre: Dracula – Oct. 9: The acrobatic spectacle from the masters of motion theatre: PUSH Physical Theatre’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 horror novel, Dracula, is like nothing audiences have ever seen. With the addition of writer, Danny Hoskins, PUSH Physical Theatre’s DRACULA is not only an experiment in true collaboration, but a daring departure from the award-winning company’s usual “silent treatment.” By combining PUSH’s speechless artistry with traditional dialogue-driven theatre, the collaborators have created a groundbreaking, thrilling and unforgettable ride into the warped world of one of literature’s most famous villains.
• Tapestry Unraveled: The Music of Carole King – Nov. 15: Tina Naponelli has captured the true essence of Carole King and brings to you a unique and unforgettable tribute experience. Tina’s powerful voice and soulful dedication pay homage to the iconic Queen of Pop.
• Who Brought the Humbug by Rhythm Street Dance – Dec. 13: The show takes place at an ugly sweater party, where all the guests are joyful singers, incredible tap dancers, and high-energy musicians. The interactive fun takes off on a jolly sleigh ride of swingin’ holiday mash-ups. The party gets extra exciting when Santa Claus starts rapping to Rudolph over horn-band funk while Frosty the Snowman tap dances a groove beat, and all of the other reindeer hit powerhouse hip-hop choreography – a magical combination you have to see to believe. Just when it can’t get any more fantastic, the party comes to a hilarious halt when two singers-turned-investigators steal the show with a beatboxing version of “The Grinch!” Ultimately, the partygoers, the investigators, the audience members, and even the HUMBUG are all united in an electric, high-energy closer called “The Holiday Funk.”
• The Dallas String Quartet – February 21, 2025: DSQ is referred to as “Bach meets Bon Jovi” and is compared to artists like Lindsey Stirling, Vitamin String Quartet, Brooklyn Duo and 2Cellos. They use both traditional and electric strings performing as a quartet with the full accompaniment of drums and guitar and are known for their eclectic renditions of everything from Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child O’ Mine” to Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” to their collaboration, “You Are The Reason,” with The Piano Guys.
• Astronaut Group 1 – March 2, 2025: The story of the original Mercury Seven Astronauts comes to life in an original theatrical production. Chosen from hundreds of crackerjack pilots for their fitness, intelligence and courage. Share Alan Shepard’s exhilaration as he breaks the earth’s atmosphere for the first time. Race with John Glenn she makes the split-second life-or-death maneuvers during reentry, and feel his relief when he emerges safe but drenched with sweat. Project Mercury was more than the story of individual missions. It defined the manned space flight program to come, from Gemini to Apollo eventually taking mankind from the earth to the moon.
• STOMP – May 8, 2025: For almost three decades STOMP has been entertaining audiences all over the world with its unique blend of rhythm, movement, physical comedy and dance. A theatrical experience like no other, STOMP is the event that has showed the globe that even the most ordinary objects like plastic bags, bin lids, brooms and even the kitchen sink can be brought to life in extraordinary ways.
